On April 17th, 2024, the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya, in partnership with the Construction & Real Estate Students Association (CRESA) and the Department of Real Estate, Construction Management & Quantity Surveying (RECMQS) Department, hosted a compelling Real Estate career talk at University of Nairobi (UoN).

Department of RECMQS, in collaboration with CRESA, organized a public lecture featuring Associate Professor Francois Viruly, of the University of Cape Town on 12th April 2024  at Space 108 in ADD.

On April 12th, 2024, a team from the Department of Real Estate Construction Management and Quantity Survey had the opportunity to tour the Global Trade Centre (GTC) Towers. The faculty members, Mr. Nzioki and Mrs. Kariuki, and students Bwana Bill Onyango, Diana Korir, and Esther Kamabe were accompanied by Professor Viruly of the University of Cape Town in preparation for his public lecture that afternoon.

The commencement of the IFC DfGE Training at RECMQS on Monday, February 26th, 2024, marked a pivotal moment in the journey towards cultivating a culture of sustainability and environmental consciousness within the higher learning institutions. To enhance awareness and comprehension of green buildings, over 70 undergraduate and postgraduate students from UoN and TUK specializing in Real Estate, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, and Architecture eagerly embarked on the two-month enlightening endeavor.

Recently, the Department  Chairman, Arch. Peter Njeru was featured on Oracle Academy’s member success Grid.

In a spotlight, the Chairman of the Department shares how the department has undertaken a significant step in its curriculum by integrating Oracle Primavera P6 into teaching courses on construction management, Civil engineering, project planning, cost control, and more.

We are thrilled to announce that the Department has been honored with the prestigious Vice Chancellor Award for the Most Improved Teaching Department in the financial year 2022/2023. This recognition was bestowed upon the department during the University's Staff Recognition and Performance Contracting Awards ceremony held on November 27, 2023.

The 3rd Annual Africa Facilities Management Conference, held on November 16th and 17th, 2023, at the University of Nairobi, marked a significant milestone in the advancement of facilities management practices across the continent. Bringing together professionals, experts, and stakeholders from various African countries and international organizations, the conference provided a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and the exploration of emerging trends and technologies.
