The Faculty of The Built Environment library is located in A.D.D. building located along Lower State House Road. It is one of the branches of the University of Nairobi Library System with a sitting capacity of 82 students. The library mainly provides information services to academic staff, non-academic staff, postgraduate, undergraduate students of the Faculty of The Built Environment and Design, and alumna of the University of Nairobi. The A.D.D library has a sitting capacity of 82 students.
The Department has existed since 1956 when the Royal College, (presently University of Nairobi) was established. The Royal College was part of the University of East Africa. However, the Department has existed under different names in the various times of existence. Upon its inception, the Department offered Diploma courses allied to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), of United Kingdom, and admitted the first Bachelor degrees programmes bunch of students in 1967.
