THIRD YEARS' MAASAI MARA TRIP

 

The department organized a students' trip on 28th April 2023, to one of the largest and most popular national reserves in Kenya, The Maasai Mara Reserve. The objective of the trip was to gain perspective on different aspects of natural resource management and the relationship between natural resources and real estate.

Masai Mara Field Trip: Insights into Real Estate and Natural Resource Management.

On April 28, 2023, the Real Estate third-year class went on a one-day tour to one of Kenya's largest and most popular national parks- The Masai Mara Game Reserve. The trip's goal was to obtain insight into many facets of natural resource management and the link between natural resources and real estate.

ADD Library Expo 2023

During the opening ceremony of the Faculty Library exhibition on Wednesday, April 26th, 2023, the Chairman of the Department of Real Estate, Construction management and Quantity Surveying, Arch. Peter Njeru, made an urged faculty staff and students to utilise the resources available to them in the Faculty Library and the University of Nairobi Library System.

INNOVATION INCUBATION AND COMMERCIALIZATION LAUNCH

Good news for the first cohort of 15 innovators comprised of students and staff of the University as they have been selected to go through a 6-month incubation and acceleration program.

This was revealed during the launch of the Innovation, Incubation, and Commercialization (IIC) program on Wednesday, 19th April 2023 at the C4DLab in the Chiromo campus.

Tree Planting 2023

In line with the government policy to plant trees to combat the effects of climate change in the country, The Department of Real Estate, Construction Management, and Quantity Surveying held a  tree-planting exercise on Wednesday, 8th March 2023. During the tree planting event over 500 indigenous trees and edible fruit trees were planted

The event attracted participants from the Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK), Kenyam Forest Service, Kabuito contractors, and staff & students from the Faculty of Built Environment and Design. 

ASSESMENT OF STONE CRUSHING CHARACTERISTICS AND DEVELOPMENT OF A STONE CRUSHER FOR SMALL SCALE ENTREPRENEURS.

ABSTRACT.
In Civil Engineering and Construction Industry, crushed stones are known as aggregates and are the basic materials in modern construction work. The current methods for crushing stones to produce aggregates are characterized by the use of large, expensive and centralised crushing plants, which are beyond the reach of small scale entrepreneurs. In addition, such centralized plants are often located too far away from the point of use of aggregates leading to prohibitively high cost of the same.
