CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The conference on Facilities Management is organized annually by The African Facilities Management Association (AFMA), Africa’s leading FM professional body. This year’s conference has been organized in partnership with the Department of Real Estate, Construction Management, and Quantity Surveying at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. The conference will be held between 16th and 18th November 2023 at the University of Nairobi’s Taifa Hall. The goal is to deepen capacity in facilities management through enhanced access to knowledge, information exchange, networking, and knowledge sharing among members and partners. The annual conference provides a platform for showcasing emerging practices, technologies, and enhanced networking.

The 2023 conference theme:

The 3rd Annual African Facilities Management Association has adopted the running theme that is; Accelerating Facilities Management across Africa towards sustainability. It is anticipated the adoption of this theme will generate greater acceptance and adoption of facilities management by learning institutions as well as the growth of professional associations across the continent.

We therefore invite those interested in participating in the conference to respond to the call for Abstracts, side events, and exhibitions. Abstracts and other forms of participation in the conference can be submitted as follows:

Abstracts should be between 500 – 1000 words written in English or French and submitted online in Microsoft word format on or before 10th October, 2023 to Kenya2023@africafm.org copy to afmaconference@uonbi.ac.ke

Acceptance of selected abstracts and invitations for submission of papers will be communicated two weeks after the deadline for submitting abstracts on 10th October, 2023. Full papers must be submitted for inclusion in the conference programme by 30th October 2023. All correspondence will be contacted by email.

General information

Authors who submit abstracts are not automatically registered for the conference. In order to participate and present, authors must register for the conference on or before 15th October 2023. Registration will be through the link:

    1. There is no fee for the submission of abstracts
    2. All submitting authors, presenters, and exhibitionists will be required to confirm the following:

Acceptance and/or agreement to the terms and conditions Intent to present the product at the conference in November, 2023 in person or online by the author or listed co-author

    1. Authors/presenters wishing to withdraw are requested to do so by 20th October 2023

Publication of papers/presentations

The technical/scientific committee will select some papers from those presented at the conference to be published in the journal of Africa Habitat Review. Selected authors will be provided editorial recommendations and formatting to refine and standardize for publication purposes.
