The department successfully exhibited in the just concluded Nairobi Innovation Week. Represented by Mr. Steve Otieno, the Wakazi Works Platform was showcased to the general public and other stakeholders. The CS Education Hon. Ezekiel Machogu also graced the stand where he, together with the Chancellor, Dr Vijoo Rattansi, and the Vice Chancellor Prof Stephen Kiama were taken through the innovation.

The Wakazi Works Platform is a digital marketplace that brings together creative artisans in Kenya in a platform where they can showcase their creative works directly to potential clients. This enables them to reach their customers directly and bypass other entities like middlemen who do not serve the interests of the artisans on most occasions. The CS noted that such a forum can also be a key foreign exchange earner for the country when the artisans’ creative works are purchased by clients abroad when it is properly implemented.
